Correspondence of George Nesbitt Thompson, secretary to Warren Hastings, including 12 ALS from Hastings to Thompson from 1790-98. The six letters dating from 1795 primarily concern the trial of Hastings, describing procedures and events and thanking Thompson for his support. Other topics include personal news of the Hastings family and their homes; offers of assistance to Thompson; and routine business matters. The group also contains business correspondence to Thompson from others, including Christopher and Robert Anstey, Richard C. Guy, and Lord Rivers; third-party correspondence, including two letters by Lord Chandos concerning Parliamentary history; two gallery passes for the House of Commons; and an engraved portrait of Hastings.
